Aldec, Inc. Named - 2002 Southern Nevada Distinguished Business of the Year

Henderson Nevada, May 21st, 2002 -- Aldec, Inc., a pioneer in mixed language simulation and advanced design tools for FPGA and ASIC devices, was announced today as the 2002 Southern Nevada Distinguished Business of the Year. The announcement was made today by Nevada’s Commission on Economic Development in recognition of Aldec’s strength in the marketplace and promotion of a healthy economy in Southern Nevada.

The award was presented by Governor Kenny C. Guinn at the Governor’s Industry Appreciation Luncheon. The award recognizes Aldec’s dedication to its customers and the EDA (Electronic Design Automation) community at large. Aldec was named the 2002 Southern Nevada Distinguished Business of the Year because of its leading innovations in the technology industry as well as its continued support of the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in order to educate the future engineering force and support the community.

“Aldec is honored to be chosen as the 2002 Distinguished Business of the Year in Southern Nevada. Our advanced integrated circuit and hardware acceleration products will continue to fuel our growth, and Nevada’s business community facilitates an ideal location to enable our continued success,” stated Stanley M. Hyduke, CEO and President of Aldec, Inc.

Aldec chose Nevada as home to its headquarters because of the low tax structure offered to businesses, affordable cost of living, and geographical proximity to California, Arizona and Colorado, which house some of the most advanced technology centers in the nation. With extremely convenient access to Las Vegas International Airport, Aldec has also been able to service most of its international clients with direct flights to Japan, the UK and other international technology firms. Aldec has doubled in size both with its personnel and office area over the last 12 months and plans to continue along a similar growth path through 2002.

“Aldec is the type of company Nevada loves to open its doors to,” said Nevada’s Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt. “This cutting-edge, high-tech company is a good corporate citizen, it partners with education, and Aldec is helping to put Nevada on the map as a premier place to do business.”

Former Nevada Governor Richard Bryan created the award in 1984 to honor the diversification of Nevada’s businesses and industries as well as particularly recognize businesses whose market segments extend well beyond the state’s border. Previous winners of the award include Levi-Strauss and Ocean Spray. The honor recognizes Aldec as being a leader in Southern Nevada through its dedication to producing products that will best serve its global customer base.
